at Earlham has been absolutely incredible!!!! The summer after my Freshman year I was funded by the Center for Social Justice to go to India with my economics professor. In Bangalore, I spent the summer teaching elementary school and mentoring adolescents on how to mitigate the effects of air pollution. I am BEYOND thankful for the experience! The summer after my Sophomore year I used my EPIC internship funding to work for a non-profit in Chicago. At the non-profit (Dress for Success) I was able to get valuable experience that I wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise (EPIC paid for my apartment, food, and transportation for the summer).
the weaving class with Nancy Taylor (I may be biased as a Fiber Arts major). I think it is so incredible and unique that Earlham has a weaving studio equipped with over 8 full-sized floor looms. Because it is such a technical art, once you learn the basics, you can make some really beautiful things. I am so impressed by the things that every class makes. I also would just strongly recommend taking a class with Nancy Taylor. She is tough and has high expectations yet she is understanding and works with people on a personal level.
of its incredible diversity and international engagement. I am so lucky to go to a school where a large percentage of the students come from outside of the U.S. Beyond this, the school also offers an incredible amount of funded international experiences. Through Earlham, I have been able to visit five different countries!! I also chose Earlham because it allowed me to be a collegiate athlete. I absolutely love Division 3 athletics and being a student-athlete has informed a lot of my college experience.
